Message: Go to speedtweaks.net, go to tips and tricks, go to "how to move the IAT sensor", and move it. It makes a huge difference. It takes 10 minutes and its my favorite modification thus far. The truck will always responds even if it is 95*+ outside and you have been riding the gas pedal on the expressway for an hour. Wow!!! of course i wouldn't recomend doing that all of the time, but I did it today b/c I was so impressed with the response.

Message: Relocating the sensor makes a big difference. I was really suprised. I have gotten many mods, but this one cost me $0.69, and is very noticeable. You don't gain any more HP. You just maximize the HP that you do have already, and you retain it. Normally when the engine gets warmer the truck wont accelerate like it does when its just been started, or when its a cold day. Now it runs peak all of the time. Very nice mod for under a dollar and not even 10 minutes under the hood.

Message: right above the 1st fuel injector on the passenger side their is a brass looking plug going into the maniflod. It has 2 wires going into it and it connects with a grey connector. Go to home depot and in the plumbing section you will find a 1/4" galvanized plug for around 69 cents. use this plug to fill the hole where the sensor was. very easy to do....Move the sensor to your cold air intake tube or add more 16 guage wire to it and move it somewhere else. Again go to speedtweaks for the full installation information.

Message: I did this mod today and had it all done........wires lengthened, hole plugged, sensor in intake.
Started it up and it's idling at 3K and making huge ass sucking sound.
I'm thinking it's the TB gasket since I reused the old one.
What you guys think?

input would be nice

Message: Kotadude21 moved the wrong thing. He moved the IAC which is the Idle Air Control motor. He had to remove it from the back of the Throttlebody (which is NOT where the instructions at speedtweaks.net describe it being).
The IAC motor is a servo that controls the idle rpm by mechanically opening and closing a passage to maintain a constant +/- 650 rpm idle. By removing the IAC servo from the TB, he left a gaping hole in the side of the TB and air was able to rush in. This air was not only enough to make the idle go up to 3000 rpm, now the servo motor was unable to regulate the idle because it had been RELOCATED. D'oh!!!!
What he should have moved was the IAT sensor which stands for Intake Air Temperature. It is mounted into the intake manifold NEAR the throttlebody (but not ON the throttlebody). This sensor sends an electronic signal to the computer informing it of the temperature inside the intake manifold. The computer responds by sending more or less fuel and air to the combustion chambers based on that temp. If the temp is too high, it sends less fuel and you get decreased power.
By relocatiing the sensor, there will be cooler air running across the sensor (the temps in the manifold are mostly over 120 degrees a LOT of the time). This will tell the computer to send more gas/air/spark and make more power. But it will tell it this all the time.
In essence the "extra kick" that your truck has when it's stone cold will be there all the time. Because as far as the computer knows, it's stone cold in the intake manifold.
If you are nervous, go to www.speetweaks.net and read the Tips & Tricks section. If you still dont' feel comfortable doing this trick, then maybe it's not for you.......

Message: Has anyone ever mentioned whether they see a decrease in miles per gallon after relocating the IAT? If so, has it been significant? Does it make your tailpipe go black, or give off a sooty exhaust, since it causes more fuel to be injected into the combustion chamber...does it excessively richen up the mixture?

I kept reading "IAT" and I related that to the IAC cuz they sound alot alike and I knew where the IAC was.
Boy what a bummer.

Message: No, there will be no black bumpers and sooty tail pipes. The computer is able to handle it all. The mileage will cecrease only if you keep sticking your foot into it all the time because you like the added power. If you keep driving normally most of the time, it should increase the mileage a bit like ToddW said.
What this sensor is actually telling the computer to do is advance or retard the timing alng with adding fuel. If you advance the timing a bit, it will use the added fuel more efficiently and give you better mileage.
Bear in mind, that this is not some "throw-you-back-in-the-seat-hold-on-for-dear-life" kind of mod. It's only a little added step. Just as it's not going to give you a HUUUUGE power increase, it's also not going to affect mileage or emissions in a HUUUUUGE way either.

Message: Bernds running nitrous with his...Its really not that big of an upgrade. Everyone is making it seem like their computers are going to go haywire, but really it's gonna be okay. Would you run nitrous in your truck within 30 minutes of just starting the engine? sure it runs better then. Do you need to run a higher octane when you turn your car on, but change to regular octane once the engine warms up? no, nothing changes, the computer stays the same. The viper uses the same iat setup in the intake tube. This system is only for checking the air temperature, not the engine temperature. The thermostat controlls that. When the iat sensor is in the manifold it is not only reading the air temp, but it is also reading the conducted heat from the intake manifold. Metal on metal conducts heat, so you are no longer recieving an accurate air temperature reading. This will not harm your vehicle in any way as long as you don't redline your truck everywhere you go. That is not good for any vehicle...
