Subject: Anyone with a rollpan, please help... IP: Logged
Message: When you install a rollpan, you take off the old bumper braces, correct? Doesn't this now affect my insurance if a car rear ends me, I won't have the support a bumper would give me? The one I have is fiberglass, are steel ones better? If I bought from an actual company like Sir Michaels instead of EBay, like i did, would they actually include supports? I am so confused. Please help. The big thing is how it will affect my coverage. Thanks.
Aaron

Message: No supports come with rollpans. I think it is better to have a steel rollpan. I haver seen some of the fiberglass ones crack after a couple of yaers.

Message: Dude you may simply want to check with your ins. co instead of other Dak owners?
I would bet they might decline because it isnt factory safety equipment.
All roll pans are for show not protection, just look at its design compared to that heavy solid bumper and brackets that mount to your frame.
Hope this helped, Scott

Message: Last year on my way out to topeka for the R/T show I was rear ended too. Funny thing was I was the only guy in the caravan with a bumper. The bro caused 2000 bucks damage... and bent the frame a tad bit, external damage was obviously the bumper and where the bed smacked the back of the cab. Anyway I was just saying I was thankful I wasnt running a rolepan that day. Although I'd love to get one eventually anyway though :).

Message: lowdak do you happen to know any sites where I could look for a steel rolepan? I was thinking of the street scene Gen1, but I think all of those are fiberglass, maybe plastic though im not sure.
