Subject: BERND NEED HELP! IP: Logged
Message: Her Bernd,
I have been getting alot of great ideas for my 3.9 mag on here, and I have finally started with the mod's. I just changed out the plugs with the 3923's and the 180 stat, but now I have lost the top end power. From 1st to 2nd to 3rd I have plenty of pickup power, but as soon as I put it in 4th it's gone. I have watched the tack and tried to switch at around 3200 rpm's to try and keep the hsp but no-go. It drops off. I'm a little stumped. Did I mess something here? Oh, I am getting ready to change the muffler out,and the intake out to a cold air home brew, if I could find another top hat. Know were I can get one for less than $60?
Anyway, I need some input. What's your suggestion?

Message: if your shifting at 3200 then it while drop of alot. the trans is not as close in 4th as 1st-3rd try sifting at to 2nd at 4000rpms to 3rd at 4100 and 4th you should just be getting to by the end of the 1/4mile. shifting here puts the tach at about 3100 by the time you are applying the gas agian hpoe this helps you! im also using a jet stage 2 chip that has given me a few more rpms to play with!

Message: Logic: You can run the V6 up to 5000rpm if you want, it makes it's power from about 3000-4800 anyway. Shifting at 3200 is really bogging down the engine and not getting the most out of it (if you have to...switch gears at 4200-4500). You can find the airhats at most salvage yards...Dakota/Durango (1997+ models)...they're about $50. Best recommendation (since you're already installing an aftermarket muffler and it looks like you're getting ready for an intake system as well)...V8 throttle body or a modified V6 unit. The Jet Stage-II does help as well but it's mainly geared for WOT performance. (I'm running one on my current V6 configuration as well.)

Message: 2damnslow: This my everyday ride, so there is no 1/4 miles for it.
Bernd: thanks for the tip I have been thinking of changing out the TB, but that will come in time. I am on a tight budget right now but I am fixing that problem too.
I have been checking with salvage yards all over the place and so far I have'nt found one. I'm in SanAntonio, do you know of any I could check around your area?
