Message: since you're already working on those triple plated chrome valve covers to help with the shine under the hood, and you have access to more resources than most of us, will you consider putting together an engine dress-up kit consisting of a few other chrome or shiny OEM pieces to help us that would like it for show??? i'd like to add some chrome under the hood of my '98 dak 3.9 but don't know which pieces i can replace with chrome, and even if i did, i wouldn't know where to get 'em.
please respond,
brian

Message: They're Nickel-Plated and yes...i've been thinking about something like that. However, the billet "Dress-Up" world already has quite a few items for the Dakota/Durango/Ram/Jeep vehicles so it wouldn't be feasible to add yet another "kit" to the market.

Message: You know what would be real nice? A decent set of
braided stainless hose so we'd have a choice of
something other than those fugly sleeves. The hose
on my bathroom fixtures far outclasses any sleeve
kit I've seen

Message: Spectre makes a universal kit that has the sleeves (for different hose sizes) and clamps (silver, blue, red, and purple). PepBoys, AutoZone, Advanced Auto, and NAPA carry them.

Message: I'll have to check those out. I have one of those kits with silver clamps, but I just don't like the look of it. It looks duller than a steel hose.

Message: Mainly dress-up but I used the bottom radiator hose sleeve as a protective cover as the old supercharger bracket and belt would occasionally rub (lightly) on the hose. (Fixed that with an auxillary pulley.)

Here's a shot of mine. (note: this is a "before" shot - my engine now sports those sharp JBA power cables I picked up when I was there)

Message: Yours are shinier than mine. What do you think of the quality of the braiding? I noticed a couple of faults in mine and have noticed the same on other vehicles with hose sleeves. I've checked out real stainless plumbing hose at Home Depot and it looks so good. Is there any way to adapt it for our use?

Message: Lesley or Bernd, where do you get the air filters for the oil breather? I really think they look sweet because you dont see them often, your two dak's was the first i saw them on. Can i just find them at any autostore? And is the sleeve kits they sell at pepboys the same as whats your your truck? They told me that the only make silver connectors, not blue... damn them!

Pep Boys or Crappy Tire.
I've seen just about every color for the hose
clamps

Message: I've got a sleeve kit and am mixed on it. I also had some troubles with them and have some bad spots in the braiding because of it. I was wondering if they're a trick to getting the heater hoses unhooked, particularly the upper heater hose. I'm afraid to break something trying to get it out at the fire wall and it looks like a lot of work to get it out at the motor.
