Subject: Fuel Injectors IP: Logged
Message: Okay....I have been reading this board for some time now and I am wondering what fuel injector everyone would use in their V-6 Daks?
I have 51K on my truck now and I can't seem to figure out why my truck will stall when I put the truck in Park. It does not stall all the time, but every once in awhile. It drives me nuts. I have ran fuel injector cleaner through the system, twice now and have not noticed a difference.
I have seen posts for Bosch and Ford. If my truck was YOUR truck, what injector would you use?
The only mods I have done to the truck are home brewed air intake using a K&N Cone Filter, Autolite 3923's, 180 T-Stat.
Thanks for the Input...

Dale, you bought how many from ebay for 46 bucks? That sounds rather cheap to me. I wonder if they are used??

Message: Depending on the year of your truck, will depend on what you need, before 2000?? You will need the 19# design 2, 2000 and newer I belive you need the design 3 24#. Go to fiveomotorsports.com or something and they list what will fit what. Or make as posting asking bernard which one you need. He is the dak tech around here. Yes the injectors I got were used, but they clamined they had been cleaned, and worked perfect, he was adding a supercharger and needed bigger ones.

Message: ok lets get back to the real problem why is your truck stalling when put in park? there could be several solutions to this 1.is your cat pluged.
2. is the computer throwing a code (is the engine light on.
3. are there any signs of a bad sensor.
any of these could cause a stall condition when put i park im not the expert but dont think that the stall is being caused by your injectors.

Message: Dale, thanks. I saw someone on ebay had a set of 8 from a 5.0 Mustang so I have a bid on them.
2Slow...no codes no engine light. The truck started to stall after I had the engine cleaned. Bought the truck used and the damn dealer must have missed the engine when the detailed the truck cuz the engine looked like crap. I have checked all my connectors and don't think it a problem with a sensor.
As for the Cat..wouldn't it stall all the time and wouldn't I lose horsepower and the gas milage drop?
I guess the other thing I am after is some better milage. Won't new/used better injectors improve the gas milage some? Just trying to better the milage some and better injectors would do this right?
Thanks for the info!

Message: They claim them mustang ones get you 2-4 better mpg. the stock injectors have one nozel, where the mustang ones have 4, bigger spray, atomizes the fuel better. The stalling part, I had a intake gasket leak that caused that prob. They have a built in vacume port on the left side of the intake. Easy to check that one. Hope this helps.

Message: Supposibly no adapeters needed for injectors. A vacume leak wont show a trouble code, and it didnt do it all the time. It was combo of vacume leak, timing chain, dbad fuel pump, and they replaced 2 injectors that I thought was unneeded.

Message: IntenseDak39, do you have to take the bar/conector off of the top of the injectors, and to di this do you just unscrew the 4 bolts on top of the TB? I was looking into it this weekend, i was just looking around to see if i could do it easy or not. Also do they just screw in? I couldnt see what was holding them into the motor.

Message: Hey IntenseDak39! You don't have to work at a garage to be a mechanic. A friend of mine is 19 and he knows the internal combustion motor inside and out. He just does a lot of work on cars in his family at home. It's not unusual to go over there and see a tranny laying around and it's back on a vehicle that drives off later that day. Point being, you know a lot more about your dak than most mechanics ever will.

Message: Dale....hope you see this as I decided to continue with this post instead of starting another one.
Okay, my injectors came today. They look like they will fit...the problem is they only have 1 nozzle, in the center.
I took one out of my Dak tonight and the nozzle on the FI in the Dak looks like the nozzle on the FI that came out of the Mustang, from the person I got them from. I guess what I am saying is they don't look any different.
Also, the injectors I bought off this person from EBay are in rough shape. They didn't bother to clean them up any. Any suggestions on how to remove the dirt and oil deposits on the outside before I install them? Carb cleaner?
Other than oil on the O rings...I think I can handle this swap....just hope they work better than what is in the truck now.

Message: 98FlameRdDak & rooknute,
very easy install. just loosen the four bolts on the intake manifold that hold down the fuel rail (have to undo the back bolts to the a/c compressor if you have a/c). You can take the tb off if you want the space but not necessary. after the bolts are off just pull up on the fuel rail on one end where the injectors are until they pop out and keep doing that until they are all out (they are pretty snug). There is a clip on each injector... remove it and pull out the injector. Make sure the o-ring comes out of the manifold and fuel rail. Lube up the new injector... put the clip on it and then pop it on the fuel rail.... repeat five more times and install fuel rail.
92dakotahd,
i know what you mean.... at my parents house (where i do most of my work) has two chebby 350 in the garage, one in the back, two np208 transfer cases, couple of catalytic converters, two th350 trannies, a th250 tranny, three rear differential, a front differential....etc.etc.etc..... notice how they are all chebby parts;-)

Message: The ones I got were same way, I think we both got shaffted. I called salvage yard and picked sum up for a 97 crown vic with a 4.6l(I think thats what it was)and installed them. Then I had a bad one, then I fouled a plug, then I ripped my sp wireset. So all that shiznit is new now. It was a very easy install though. Plan on selling the wrong ones on ebay, where I got them from :|

Message: Dale:
I emailed the person that I got the injectors from to confirm that they did indeed come out of a Ford Mustang like I was told they did. The person was nice enough to include a picture of the vehicle where the FI's came from.
The FI's that I won from Ebay look just like the ones at
http://www.fiveomotorsport.com/Injector_Sets.html
They are the same FI's that are shown for the D5B-19lb . Although the image does not show the part that goes into the engine block, they appear to be the same design injectors that everyone stated was okay to use. Even according to fivemotorsports website, these same injectors will work in the 87-99 Mopar 3.9 engines.
So now I am wondering what do I do with them? Install them? Try to sell them and get my money back? I bought a set of 8, since they came out of a 302 engine. I don't want to throw them away.
BTW, I took them to work today and cleaned them up. We have this citrus orange degreaser at work that did a very nice job on them. They look better than when I got them, but not quite have that new look.
Any suggestions Dale?
