Message: Cody, one thing you can do to increase your mileage is get rid of those 31" tires.
Are your sure the catcon is bad? What configuration is your truck? 4x2, 4x4, RC, CC, etc....?

Message: What code did it show? It could be the O2 sensor.
That is a fairly heavy truck. If you don't want to change tires maybe change gears. Especially if all you do is city driving. If your truck has the stock 3.55:1 gears you could probably go to 4.10:1 gears.
What shape is the ignition, tire alignment/ inflation in? This all comes into play for the quest of better MPG.

Message: The slipping tranny isn't helping your situation. Not to mention cooler temps and winter blend gasoline. My '00 QC 4x2 w/ 3.9/5spd/235/75/15's gets about 18 avg. city. We really don't have a winter down here in Cajunland either.

All these mods also help gas mileage
I have a 95 4x4 V6 and stock it got 17 to 19mpg
with all the mods I got 22 to 24mpg
I now went with a slightly hotter cam and this
summer 24.4 24.8 was my average when I filled the

Message: My truck was having difficulty shifting in to high when it was cold in the morning. Changed the trans filter and oil this weekend, plus added a quart of Lucas stop slip/hard shift to it. Shifting like a top now.

Message: You just solved the problem temporarily ...bring it to the dealer..tell them to flush tranny,,, it has about 18 qts,,that includes the torque converter ....and please don't use additives...they destroy your tranny clutches.....use a synthetic tranny fluid like Amsol or another synthetic brand,,dont use stock oil if your going offroad..and like larry said do the former posted mods...I did them and the best I got on a trip to Pennsylvania was 25 mpg...the worst in town was 17...thats because my town is all hills so I have to use the tranny button to keep the converter and tranny from lock up

Message: pry meant 8 quarts, a500's take around 8-9 quarts of oil with an empty torque converter, depending on what TC you have(performance/stock)
