Subject: No low end power !!! IP: Logged
Message: i have a '93 3.9, and it feels like i have lost a lot of power. also, sometimes at startup, the engine MOANS ! it feels like it is struggling big time. if i keep the rpms up, it goes away though. but it is all at low rpms. it doesn't feel like it's comfortable until its between 3000 and 4000 rpm, then it's time to shift. has anyone had this problem? there's about 155,000 miles on it, and i don't drive it very forgivingly sometimes.
i figure i'll do a tune up, but is there anything else i can do? it feels like it's overheating, but the temp says it's normal.
if the tune up doesn't help, i might try to rebuild it. does anyone make an overhaul or rebuild kit?
any info would be GREATLY appreciated

Message: your problem could stem from several things. 1 could be bad fuel pump check fuel pressure and see if it is within spec.2 could be a clogged converter.3 could be a worn out engine check compression. 4 could be worn out plugs and wires.5 timing could be off. my guess would have to be either clogged converter or bad fuel pump, fuel filter. most of this can be checked pretty easily with basic tools or tools you could rent. also if you drive it like you stole it then you could have possibly just over worked the motor which you can tell from the compression test. if none of this reviels anything then you could take it to a trustworthy mechanic. hpoe this helps you out keep me up to date.

Message: well i replaced the plugs and fuel filter, switched to a 180 degree t-stat and flushed the coolant. it helped a little, but still doesn't run near the way it was--or the way i would like it to. i guess i'll check the compression and fuel pressure. don't think it's the cat, but won't hurt to check. i'll go ahead and put new wires on it. i don't know how to check the timing, so i guess i'll take it to a mechanic. if none of this helps, i'll probably end up selling it. no use in putting too much money in it when i'm already planning on getting a gen 3.
thanks for the info. anybody else have any ideas?

Message: Try replacing your fuel and air filters, cleaning your throttle body really well, and checking you spark plugs for correct gaps and overall condition. Basically a tuneup that you should be able to do yourself for less than $20.
What type tranny do you have? If a manual, your clutch may be slipping too...
