Message: well today at 83,908 miles my daks transmission i believe has just started to go out...it wont go after 2500rpm's just hits rev limiter. it takes about 1min. to get upto 50 which is now the top speed. and once it goes over 2500rpm's the tranny or something near by rattles..........does that sound like the tranny is going out? or is it something else?
i am going to take it to a transmission shop tommorow which they jsut replaced the transmission oil and filter 1k miles ago and said it was in top shape. and i checked the transmission oil and it was still full. and last of all the mufflers sound like a ricer for some reason? and before they never sounded like a ricer.......any advice will be greatly appriciated....the first major problem the whole time i had my dak at almost 84k miles isnt to bad really.

Message: Sorry to hear about your tranny N8 dawg. Dodges have had a reputation for crappy trannies for some time now. I had a friend that once bought a '98 Ram, and the tranny totally went to sh** at 10,000 miles, and it took him just over a YEAR to put that few of miles on it. The trannies seem to be THE only drawback of the late '90's Dodges.

Message: Engine won't go past 2500RPMs, just seems to stop? Rattling near the Tranny?
Climb underneath and slap the Cat, wiggle it a bit, see if you hear rattling. If your engine isn't going past 2500RPM and just seems to lack power overall, it sounds like it might be a broken-up Catlytic Converter maybe.

Uh... I have to retract my previous post! I can't go out giving good advice, that'll ruin my image as an idiot! Uh... I think it's your Spritzner Valve! YEAH! Thats it! It's got to much vacuum fluctation from the...er... Muffler Bearings! Thats why your exhaust tone changed!
Hehehehe...

good thing you reminded me... have those muffler bearing lubed up with some grease and while your down there you should think about installing an offroad "O" pipe..

Message: My cat rattles its ass off, But I havnet lost power, prob got more out of it since its been rattling. And mine at high rpms does sound like some ricer crap. I get way over 2500 rpms though.
While you have it checked out though, get them muffler bearings greased. :))

Message: my engine goes past 2500rpm's but once it gets over it then it goes up to the rev limiter at 5200rpm's like its in neutral.......my dad looked at it today and took it to the local dodge dealer. he said it seems like the fuel pump which it may have got clogged up when i ran out of gas.
and the auto trannies are pieces of $hit in the newer daks and rams, my dads rams tranny is a piece too

Message: Ok, so you hit 2500RPMs then it starts slipping? Torque Convertor maybe, not the fuel pump. If your running up to 5200RPM, your getting fuel. But yeah, sounds like it might be the tranny. Glad I got a stick! *pats Hurst*

Message: yep it was the catlytic convertor, in the shop right now will be done at 1:00 they were trying to ge6t me to buy some new 02 sensors but they wanted 194 to install them and check engine light was not on so i didnt get them......i went to autozone and checked the prices on the sensors cost $70 thought i might chechk them before changing them.
and there was a recall on my truck they had to put a spacer on the brake line going to the back ......if you have a 97 might want to go and get it done maybe for 97 and newer daks too.

Message: I think I may be having some probs with my transmission as well. The other day I was at a light then made a left turn and all of a sudden my dak wouldn't go. wtf. I pulled over turned it off/on then now the check engine light comes on and stays on when i'm drivin. could it be something else?
My mods (so far) - airaid intake, jba headers, carsound cat, gibson single side exhaust, 180 Stat, Autolites, JBA ignition wires
the cat is fairly new, doesn't sound like it's busted. thanks for your help.
