Sorry I can't tell if I misspelled Porche or not, anyway... I was driving through town when this little red porche passes me in the other lane. At the next red light I was directly behind him. I was hoping to be next to him but there was a delivery truck in the way. I could see it was a kid driving, probably seventeen or so, and the car wasn't new or anything, Actually it looked to be an early 70's And it sounded like a sick Volkswagon. The Kid began reving the motor and a cloud of smoke, (partly blue, mainly black) billows out the back and for a moment I had to wonder if the darn thing was on fire. Then he looks in his rearview and sees me sitting there in my Dakota with racing stripes and he smiles, I reved my motor and the kid revs his again and ofcourse another cloud of smoke comes rolling out. Then the light changes green, the kid drops the clutch and the car almost stalls at it jerks forward. Meanwhile my tires are smoking and I'm not moving for a second or two, then I feather the gas and grab some traction. I grab second then Third and quickly swerve into the other lane because the kid either can't drive or the car is on its last leg because I almost bump into the back of him while he's jerking up the road. I had to love it.... Smoked a Porche.....!!!!(Well, a piece of s@#T one anyway).

Porsche..........sounds like it was a 914. Loads of fun to drive but they only have a modded VW 4 cyl in 'em. Even the 924 are psuedo crap. Now a 944 Turbo or any 911 ya better just wave back and let 'em go!!
I beat a 911 once, I don't think he knew we were racing though.... ;-)

new viper is not faster. to 60 anyway. boxters have well under 300 hp. i bet some stock daks can take the none S ones. Im not talking about the carrera...the 911 turbo is a bit faster. and anything can be 11 or 12 with NOS. like nick kramer's V6. or anything with a dropped engine. that isn't really beating it. i mean beating one with a modified 3.9 5.2 4.7 or 5.9 w/o nos. cause with n2o anything can happen.

I didnt think the track specs were avalible for the 03 viper yet...

All I know is that 97 and up vipers would pull in high 12's in the quarter... and since the new viper will have a 50 hp and 50 lbs of torque increase I would figure, if still not comperable to the 911 turbo its very close.

Well they didn't have the 1/4 but the 0-60 on the 03 Vipers is 3.9sec. I found the specs. in a car mag, it had a pic of the 03 Viper on the cover.

Sounds more like a '69 or so 912. Those are crap. Anyhow if you guys are out racing the new 911 Turbos, good luck. Even with your mods, you may take the Porsche in the 1/4 mile if you have a 12 sec Dak but lets not forget in a real road race, you guys will lose out. Daks won't have the top end speeds and I seriously doubt we will out handle a 911T. Plus we lose out in aerodynamics too. Maybe with tens of thousands of dollars in, we may make it interesting but..............

Just MHO.

Isn't a porsche a 6er too? Flat six I think. Funny thing about those europeans. Probably the most sought after Ferrari ever. The F-40 gives up 4 tenths of a liter to our six-cylinder daks. They do much more which much less. Except money of course, they use plenty of that.
