Message: here's something that the guyz and gurlz might like to hear if they are debating the TB mod because of the pain of the throttle cable swap. simply get a throttle body off of a 318 jeep!!! they have the disk on the side instead of the ball and your V6 cable will hook right up!!
Just thought that some of you would like to know that because i've read the angry words of many when it came to the V8 throttle cable installation. this really does work, i did it on my dak!!!
good luck,
brian

Message: Huh? I just did the V8 TB swap and my V6 cable had the ball end not a disk end. The V8 cable has the disk end. I think you've got your cables mixed up.
By the way, my swap went smoothly. Replacing the cable was no problem. This mod provided the most noticable improvement yet.

Message: This has gotten me confused, I am about to do the TB swap and was told I would need a V8 TB cable. My V6 TB cable has the ball-stud end on it.
Does the new V8 TB cable I will need have a differen't kind of connection on it?
As well, from what I have read I can use the sensors off my V6 TB for my V8 Tb correct?
Thanks

Message: if you get the TB off the V8 it will have the disc style linkage for the the throttle cable.
my v6 TB had the ball type, getting the V8 cable will solve this problem BLeagues.
Also, all the sensors will match up from the 6 to the 8.

Yes, you'll need to swap out to the V8 throttle cable if you use a V8 TB on your V6. The cable swap takes about 5 minutes.

Message: This may sound like a stupid question, but do manual transmission Daks have a throttle cable?
I have looked at the pics on speedtweaks in their tips and tricks section and the picture on their Throttle Valve Cable adjustment is differen't than what I have on my manual transmission 99 Dak.
In that pic, where it says Throttle Valve Cable I do not have that on my Dak. All I have is a spring that goes from the window side of that bracket to the throttle body lever.
So do I need the V8 TB cable for my 5spd manual transmission Dak when I do the TB swap?
please help.
Thanks

Message: Ok Bernd, in that pic that I was talking about, the TB cable is referred to as the accelerator cable right?
I assumed that was the case, but I have the ball and stud linkage right now on my V6 TB, if the V8 TB cable comes with a disc type of linkage, won't I need a new bracket to mount the Disc style TB cable?
Thanks

Message: Yup...
Accelerator Cable, Gas Pedal Cable, Throttle Cable (as in Throttle Body)...all the same thing.
All you'll need (for ease of installation) is the V8 throttle body cable.

Message: OK, sorry to sound stupid, but I am not that mechanically inclined.
But do I take the ball socket off the V6 TB cable (which I have now) and attach it to the V* Tb cable wich I will need?
What I am trying to understand is, if the V8 Tb cable comes witha disc style attachement, how am I gonna mount it to the ball and stud type of attachement that is on the bracket that I have now?
Thanks once again

Message: You need to change the throttle (accelerator) cable. Don't try to make it more complicated BLeagues...it's a very simple installation.
If you want, go to our website (www.speedtweaks.net) and then into the V6/V8 Throttle Body Conversion kit section. Download the instructions and it will explain everything.

Message: ok, sorry bout the confusion, just a suggestion...never try to post messages while you're under the influence :) I did have the cables backwards, but i wasn't wrong bout the V8 throttle body on the '94-'95 jeep 318's, it comes with the ball stud, i've seen 12 of these jeeps now and ALL of them have had the ball stud on the throttle body...bernd, i know that you have lotz of ppl that you talk to on the phone, but a month or two ago i called you from my house in VA wondering why the throttle body that i purchased had the ball stud, and i finally figured it out, it was because it came off of a '94-'95 jeep 318. please tell me if i'm wrong, but like i stated above, i've now seen 12 of them with the same throttle body. thanks for correcting me bernd, i was feeling like a real dumbarse for a while there.
good luck,

Message: Bernd, I got my V8 TB and cable from the dealer yesterday and put it on last night. You were right about it being a fairly simple procedure.
The hardest part to me was getting the clip that holds the cable to the firewall off and the new cable back on to it.
I guess the thing that I was confused about, was, that I would have to install the TB bracket that I had, which had the ball and socket type linkage, onto the new TB. But as it turns out the new TB came with a new bracket that had a socket type linkage.
Anyways thanks for the help.

Message: OH MY!!!!!!!! I'm real confused, HELP?????? I have a tb off a 95/96 5.2 jeep g c (and was lucky to get the cable too). Looking at everything I thought, "Cool, swap things out on my 00 V6 and I'm trucking on" But now Bernard posts that the tb has egr ports???? Like a fool I left the "new" tb in my tool box over the weekend and I'm going nuts wondering if things are gonna work. I do know that they came with three different linkage arms, the one I have has the small plastic piece between the stationary mounting piont on the bracket and the disk attaching piont, the cable goes under this piece and making sure it's in the groove on this piece it connects to the disk. My dak has the ball set up and that's why I snagged the cable too. BUT this egr port thing has me wondering???????? I guess if I knew the exact year of the g c it would help and you bet come Monday morning I'm gonna find out HAS ANYONE DONE A TB AND CABLE OFF OF A 5.2 AUTO 95/96 JEEP G C ON TO A 00 3.9 MANUAL DAK. HELP, SIGNED CONFUSED AND DEPRESSED!!!

As for the NORMAL responses on here, It looks like I'm gonna have to start doing some research on all this stuff. My grandpa hasn't been much help. So far all he's been able to do is say, "Josh! Don't modify your truck! It's perfectly fine! All that stuff does is f'k it up!" Heh... ah well. I'm DEFINITELY gonna buy me a cold air intake though. I like the looks of them a lot and I've heard enough good stuff about them. :)
