Subject: leaf springs IP: Logged
Message: im goin to lower my 94 dakota 3.9l w/ 3" leaf springs in the back. If i do this will i lose load carrying capicity. If so should i use air bags to help level when loaded. I have to be able to tow my 4 wheeler and my jet ski. thankx for any help you give me

Message: yes....drop leafsprings always loose the towing ability...cant hold as much and you get more axle wrap. if i was you i would go with either the shackle and hanger kit, or drop blocks..keep your same towing ability. it will also help to put stiffer shocks in the back. bags in the back of a lowered truck are also a good idea if your gonna be towing and carrying some heavier things..hope this helps.

Message: thankx that did help i was also thinkin of goin shackels. i dont want to do blocks b/c my axle is on the top side and if i lower it 3" the differential will be about 2" off the ground.
