Message: Timmy, my 2000 slt did that at about 7000 miles. It was more of a pinging under acceleration; like you have bad gas (Permanently). I took it to the dealer and they said all they need to do is "flash the computer". It took care of the problem. It can't be too labor intensive if your out of warranty.

Message: Could be ping but depending on the year of your truck it would probably have a knock sensor to prevent that. My first guess though would be a slight exhaust manifold gasket leak.

Message: I have a pretty good audible ticking noise from the leak detection pump -- annoying I think.
What's with all these noises that I don't know about. It's seems there is always something making a funny noise. Nothing breaks, but it's all kinda goofy. Not just me either...
So it's only when you accelerate?
How long is it there?
Do you do anything to ever make it go away temporarily.
SO MANY NOISES!
