Subject: My 3.9 and the Camaro/Firebird V-6 Tards IP: Logged
Message: I raced a V-6 (Newer Model)Firebird the other day, it was a 5-speed. I whooped the Shiznit outta him right off the line and I was a good car length or two ahead at around 90. Then he hit fifth gear and started to catch up (really slowly) but there was no room left on the street. I have a stock 3.9 V-6 with 170,000 miles on it. Is this normal?

Message: by newer model do you mean the 98+(i beleive that's when they changed the body style) if so then no it's not normal. after 96 they got the 3.8l 200hp. before that they were 3.4l 160hp. also, what rear-end do you have? the f-body's are geared really low, like 2.73 i think.

Message: It is atleast a 96 or newer cause it is the F-body style. I have no idea what my rear-end is because no one has ever been able to tell me. I got a 1993 RC 3.9V-6 with the towing package. I would like to know my rearend gears are.

Message: What are your RPMS at 60 in the top gear? Go to Randys Ring and Pinion's sight. They have a RPM calculator.

Message: With you being a Gen II dak, you ought to be closer than us Gen IIIs when racing a F-body, but he must have been a bad driver, because my best friend has a '97 3.8L Firebird, and it kicks my ass, it is pretty fast, and is pretty much bone stock. I think it should have bea you, the driver didnt know how to drive.

Message: And another thing, I got 235/60R15 tires on there and for some reason it will also hit second gear scratch.
When I get to the line sometimes I will put it to about 1500 and launch it from there. It has peeled out through first and into second gear doing that. NO JOKE. Also when I am going about 25 I have slammed the go-fast pedal and it will chirp quite a bit and then chirp again when I hit second gear. NO JOKE!
I was just wondering why my truck does this?! I want to know what gears I have in it. I will look at that website to check it out.

Message: The driver must not know how to drive, I've had both the 3.4 and 3.8 in camaros the 3.8 (stock except for k&n filter) could beat the 4.6 Mustang I now have the 3.9 in my dakota and it sure couldn't beat my camaro with the 3.8 maybe the 3.4
