Message: What is the difference between my 1993 3.9 and the 2002 3.9?? How come when I ordered the K&N Air Filter system from summit they said they dont have a cool air system for my year? It cant be that different. I wanted something like the super flow , also what is the complications of dropping a new 2002 3.9 in my 93? The new heads pistons and all....How different are the sensors and bla bla bla...

Message: I did the swapp on my 92 dak. All that I could use from the new engine was the complete longblock. Not stuff like, valve covers, flywheel, intake, any sensors, exhaust manifolds, water pump etc... And the reason you can't get a cold air kit for ours is it is a specific fit for the engine bay of the truck, and the newer dak's have a different engine bay. I say make your own, or buy a kit and adapt it to fit.

Message: I own a '94 and was told the same thing. The pre ramlet Daks use an "old style" round air cleaner. The ramlets use an air hood connected to an air box. The K&N kit replaces the "box" and filter with a cone style filter. Unfortunately K&N only makes a kit for the latter style but.... you can use what you currently have to do the same thing only for FREE. If yours is like mine, I think is, you can make your current setup into a cold air rig. It's simple; just follow the air intake tube from the air cleaner toward the front of the truck. Remove the hose from the plastic connector on the radiator support bulkhead and feel inside. There is a plastic cover strait out the end of the tube and if you push on it hard toward the front it will pop off. It is fun to wrangle out but once you do, you have should be able to see daylight. Just reattach the air tube and poof cold air induction for FREE!!! If you really have to pay some one money goto AutoZone get the K&N filter for your truck. K&N cold air kit price $30. I hope this is of some help to you. If you have any questions please drop me a line JOhlmacher@msn.com .

Message: I did that to mine when I had the grille off, forgot to mention it. Possibly a slight "ram" air effect too? Only drawback is that some little things make it into the air cleaner area like, bugs and small dbris. The filter blocks them though.
