 Subject: V8 throttle body swap

Im going junkyardin soon and just want to double check somethin. Im lookin at doin the V6 to V8 throttle body swap. I know there is a lot of posts on this topic and i checked through the archives and i couldnt find the answer im lookin for. My question is I have a 2000 V6. will any magnum V8 throttle body work? like will a 94 ram V8 work? or even a 91 dakota V8? as long as they are the magnum engines? all i would need to do is buy the v8 cable after? right?
Thanks for your help- i wouldnt want to buy one that wouldnt work.

yeah, pretty much. so long as the engine is a Magnum Engine, you'll be able to bolt on the TB. both the 318 and 360 Magnum engines use the same TB (48mm).

No...it won't work properly. The 95 and older TB's have EGR ports in the bores which will cause improper idle qualities on the 96+ models.
It may be from a Magnum engine...but make sure you grab one either for the year of your truck or newer. (This applies mainly for '96+ models.)

I was fixing to ask same questions, Thanks. So I can go steal the tb off my friends ram while shes asleep, and then go buy me a gas peddle cable, and I'm ready to go?? O yea, I have a poweraid tb spacer, will that work with the v8 tb??

I ran for about a year with a V8 TB & a V8 cable. I recently removed them because I'll be trading in the truck for a full size RAM.

'96 and up are all the same. '95- older are different (then you get into linkages with the '95 and older which is another ball of wax).
Bernd has pictures of the different linkages which is the first clue...'95 and older are different than '96 and newer... '92-93 are REAL different.

Thanks, time to do some web surfing now!!! Why is poweraid tb spacer usless, I noticed a power diff. So it wont work on the v8 tb??

Did you read www.speedtweaks.net tips and tricks? I read somewhere that the effects of spiraling the incoming air is lost due to the beer barrel intake manifold or something like that. If you feel the difference then use it, but most people here have found it more useful as a paper weight than on a magmum engine.
