I have a 99 3.9l v6 2wd, the best mod I have done so far is to put an aftermarket exhaust on. I noticed a difference as soon as I drove it out of the muffler shop.

I went with the MBRP Super Single myself and am quite satisfied with the results.

try a v8 TB. its not hard to do. it'll take you 30
min max and it lets alot more air into the engine
thus gaining low end power.

Better TB (flowmetrics, or V8), Intake, Exhaust, Headers all good mods.

Really cheap with noticable improvments: Remove clutch fan and use an underdrive crank pulley, Relocate IAT sensor

Best mods I've done so far is putting a Gibson exhaust on and a mildly modified V8 throttle body.

Well I've been to FL twice in my Dak and I got 22mpg with the stock TB and the same with the V8 TB running 70-75 mph

Still get 16-18 mixed, worst I've ever got is 15

Gibson aluminized steel catback will cost you about $300 shipped and you can buy a used V8 TB on e-bay for around $100. If you want to go the new route for a V8 TB it'll cost you about $220 at a dealership.
