My 1996 dakota v6 would cut-out only after it got
hot. The computer (PCM) shut off all the fuel
injectors momentarily (0.1 sec) when accelerating
around 1800 rpm. After changing PCM, MAP sensor,
ignition coil and running many different tests to
isolate the problem with no success, I finally
replaced the timing chain and sprockets ($42 at
AutoZone). A lot of labor but no more cut-outs.
The old chain had a little over 1/8 inch slop when
cold and I expect more when it was hot.
