i have a 2000 Dodge Dakota V Sixer and it came with the sh!tty ass gears, the 3.55. i want more torque......... anyone know where i could get one used or new?

This is what I did, I went to a Junk yard and got it of a R/T for $70. That made such a difference on my kota.

Jesse it sounds like you got lucky the avereage price for a rear-end is usually much much more expensive!!

Yeah, I am a usual at that junk yard, they dont get too many daks there, the guy didnt care beacuse I always buy alot of crap from him all the time for other cars.

It takes longer to swap gears (and requires experience) than it does to swap the entire rear end. Not sure on a price.

SON OF A ..! Somehow, I was sure I had a 3.92 and now I look in the glove box and it's "3.2"! Crap! What I really want to know is what told me I had a 3.92! But my question here, besides "how could I be so stupid?", is:
Okay, so you get the rear end out of an R/T or get the 3.92 gears for the rearend. Is there a gear somewhere that fixes the speedo and odometer? Will it also feed the overhead console? What about the speed limiter - does it run off RPM or speed, 'cause if it runs off the RPM, does this mean the PCM needs to be flashed?
Here's another reason to get 3.92's: Towing is 1,300 lbs more than the 3.21 and 800 lbs more than the 3.55 according to the '98 owners manual.
Excuse me while I go bang my forehead against the wall some more.
