Subject: staling & back fires IP: Logged
Message: I have a 98 Dodge Dakota with 177k miles. It has been staling, back firing and some times dies but starts back up. We have replaced cables, plugs, rotor and cap but is still doing this. Ended up blowing out a brand new muffler. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Message: replace the engine position sensor. Find an oem sensor, because I found several aftermarket sensors would not function right and this sensor wont always leave a code when it is at fault.

Message: I had same problems, also major misfiring issues.
I got a new PCM and ended up fixing the cutting
off backfiring and stalling... got a refurbished
one from autocomputerexchange for around 150 I
think.. bank 1 misfires came back again after a
while and I can't figure it out. but the pcm
solved my problems regarding those things.
