I am replacing a blown 3.9 engine (1997) that has an auto
transmission with another 3.9 engine that had a manual
transmission (1998). When bringing the engine and transmission
together, I found that the torque converter knob would not fit in the
slot on the back of the engine crank where the pilot bearing was (I
did take out the pilot bearing). Will an automatic not fit in an
engine that had a manual transmission? What alterations do I need
to make to get it to come together so I can bolt it up?
