My 2000 Dakota shuts off while driving. I have replaced the Automatic Shut off relay and the Fuel pump relay. When I go to restart it, it turns over but doesn't fire up. If I take the positive battery cable off and wait 1 minute and try again it starts. Any ideas out there.

No there is no check engine light. If the PCM was bad shouldn't I get a check engine light? Some one suggested the fuel regulator valve earlier on.

I also saw on an earlier thread on this forum that it could be a bad splice below the fuse box under the hood on the drivers side. I'm perplexed here.

I have 1999 Dakota v6 slt that is also shutting off while
running. Mostly in stop and go busy traffic. Auto and Truck
in Birmingham changed the crank position sensor, but the
problem persists. A dealer in Birmingham wanted to charge
me $2,850 to change and program rhetorically pcm. I towed
the truck back down to my mechanic here in Long Beach MS,
but he says he has been unable to replicate the problem. I
took it for about a 20mile run and it died out again. It re
cranks after resting for a while. Any ideas?
