 Subject: replace engine

Have a 2001 dakota...145000 km. Paid $500 for truck. Great
shape overall...crankshaft broke and went through the side of
the bottom of the engine pan. I had purchased it this way. The
truck is a 3.9L sport 4x4 magnum model...i am needing to
know what is my best option? Either pull and fix or pull and
replace? And which engines are compatible from dodge? Can i
put an engine that is 3.9 from a ram 1500? Does 4x4 or
transmission type matter in the equation? Never replaced an
engine to this scale before and am looking to research all
aspects
