2001 V6 Dakota MIL light came on today, 5 days after having 2 freeze plugs replace behind engine wall, power steering hose replaced and Rear Dif serviced as well as having the annual emissions test. I thought I could turn the ignition key 1 position to get the codes but that didn't work. The gas cap wasn't lose. Any idea what could be the problem. Could it be a result of the work done last week not being done correctly. I don't want to pay to fix something the shop caused. What questions should I ask when I take it in.

To check for codes:
Turn the key on/off/on/off/on and the codes will display in the odometer as PXXXX. By "on" I mean "on" not "start".

Thanks, I'll give it another try. I did that a couple of time and didn't see any P-Code.
What are your thoughts on this other issue. My AC/HVAC system works but primarily blows out the floor and defrost vent. Before it happened when I would change from floor, vent & defrost it would be slow to change but the last time I heard a pop like a valve was stuck and popped into another position and from that point on it's like all the air movement is in the dash and the air comes out where it can.
