Subject: Dakota Swap, what to do? IP: Logged
Message: Hey Dakota Drivers. I'm new to the forum and have a situation I could use some feedback on. I just purchased a 2005 Dakota V6 SLT with an automatic transmission. It only has 56,000 miles on it and runs well. My Dad also has a 2005 Dakota V6, but his is an ST with a manual transmission. It has 84,000 miles on it, and runs good, but he uses it for work so it's a little more worn. Both trucks are the same color.
My question is this. My Dad and I were discussing swapping trucks. He wants the cruise control in mine, and I want the manual transmission in his. But I'm concerned about the mileage difference. Your thoughts on this would be great, as I can't seem to make up my mind. My 2001 Dakota Sport (manual 4banger) is still going strong with 197,000 miles, but I don't know anything about the 2005 and up V6's. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Message: Does the V6 have 4 wheel drive? Both trucks are pretty much powerless but Im sure the 4 banger 2 wheel drive will get better mileage. V6s last a long time but get crummy mileage. If it were me I'd choose the 4 banger if I was using it for a daily driver.
