I have 6cyl Dakota with problem that comes & goes.Sometimes light comes on and truck shifts into 2nd gear and won't come out. I can park a day or 2 and its OK for several weeks.

Same problem on my 05 Dakota just after I bought the
truck. Next time it comes on go to Auto Zone and
have them look at the diagnostics and they can tell
you what is wrong. They had to rebuild my
transmission shortly after this started to happen,
sorry you may be in the same boat.
