Subject: Late shifting into 2nd gear. 92 3.9L IP: Logged
Message: My '92 Dakota (auto) with the 3.9L will take forever to shift into 2nd gear on cold startup unless you floor it or come close to it. The previous owner mentioned something about replacing the transmission and putting a "high stall" in it. I checked the detent/kickdown/whatever cable on the side of the throttle body and it was fine. What could this high stall thing mean, and how would I get rid of it?

Message: I think he means a high stall converter. When was the last time you checked your transmission fluid level... and when was the last time you changed it?
If the fluid is in really bad shape, you might have to change it a few times.
