 Subject: 2000 Dodge Dakota wont start

I have a 2000 Dakota, 3.9 4x4 that wont start. I let it sit a little too
long I think. t only sat for around 6 to 8 months. Came back to it
and of course the battery is dead, so I got a new battery. It was
throwing a code of a crank position sensor, so I changed that. I
tried to start it up and it started, but was backfiring like crazy. I
have a viper alarm in there that I disconnected, so I reconnected
that thinking that it was the problem, now no codes. Tried to start
it again and the truck just keeps turning and turning....no codes, no
start. I have spark because it started the first time. I also tried
starting fluid, didn't work. Any ideas?
