Message: Will 8 1/4" 3.92 Gears from a 2001 Dak fit in my 99 which currently has 3.21? Would I need to replace the housing as well? It looks to me like I would only need the gears, bearing sleeves, and a new gasket am I correct? anyone?

Message: Yes they are interchangable. 8 1/4" is 8 1/4", as long as they are newer that '97. Pre '97 they were 27 spline and '97 and up they are 29 spline, so it all should fit like a champ.
Just another 3.9 Dak.

Message: I have an opportunity to buy these gears for 80 bucks, they were in a new dak for 100 miles or so I'm told. I told the guy I'd let him know either way by Friday. Anything in particular I should look for when inspecting them? I have read several past posts regarding the performance gains and think it would be a wise mod. My truck is a 99 3.9 RC with a stick, and lately I've been obsessed about squeezing more power out of it. Thanks to all the informative postings on this sight I've added 3923's, Borg warner cap and rotar, JBA 8 MM Power cables, RS 180 degree Tstat,Volant intake, and today a flowmaster delta 50 and stock V8 TB goes on!! Soo thank you dodgedakotas.com community!!! anymore insight on the gears would greatly be appreciated.
