Message: The rear mount flange has corroded off my 98 Dakota V6 with 5 speed
I picked up a transmission off a 98 V8 but it seems a little different- the flanges are heavier etc- it looks to be the same size and the shifter is in the same place- any help ? Will the heavier duty 5 speed off the v8 fit on the v6 and f so what other chnages are needed

Message: In '98 they put the AX-15 trans behind the V6 and the V8's got the beefier NV-3500. I think around '00 V6 or V8 got the NV-3500/3500HD. Both of those are basically the same just the HD is a closer ratio than the standard 3500.
So, it should bolt up but, I would check the input and output shaft dimesnions and overall length just to make sure.

Message: Well I appreciate the encouragement . The clutch slave cylinder and the starter are the same part numbers as is the rear transmission mount, which is good. I guess if they are the same length, and the driveshaft has the same # of splines and is the same diameter I should be ok.
