have a 2002 dak quad cab, with 3.9 in it. well i'm ready to start upgradeing and was going to start with getting rid of the egg beater fan,but there is already an electric fan on there. i heard go with a black magic but were do you mount it with one already there. should i just go with a flex fan insteed??? and are the flex fans worth it, i know they flaten out at higher rpm but how many rpm's do you need to turn to flatten them out???

I also have a 2002 dak quad cab 3.9. I removed the clutch fan 4 months ago and didn't add another electric fan. The one that is on there automatically turns on when the A/C is on or when the temp goes above half way up the guage. Before I removed the clutch fan I did install a 180 degree thermostat. I also have the ASP underdrive pully. I live in south Florida (high 80's low 90's past couple of weeks) and see stop and go traffic every day. No overheating problems. Guage usually stays at the 180 degree point. If its hot out I usaully have the A/C on anyway and the stock electric keeps the temp at the 180 point even in bumper to bumper traffic.

Stock electric fan will suffice unless you do any towing or serious 4 wheeling then you need the blackmagic. There is an issue with the blackmagic on 2001 and newer that speedtweaks is working on. Last I heard they almost had it figured out. Bernd if you read this, how you doing on the 2001 3.9 black magic issue?
