Message: i'm not sure, but you might need larger valve covers (which they dont make for our sixers) because the rockers are larger, but i know the mopar rockers fit, and their alot cheaper.

Message: when I installed my roller rocker arms it was advertised on truckperformance.com that they fit under stock valve covers. so I took off my valve covers removed the stock rockers, installed the new roller rockers following all the directions with proper torque. Then I discovered the valve covers no longer fit. I was pissed. So I took off the roller rockers and reinstalled the stock rockers, (this truck is my main transportation) called truckperformance.com and slightly got on their asses. So then they tell me. Oh yeah, by the way you have to hammer down the oil galleys. So the next weekend I went back to work and hammered the valve covers and everything worked out ok.

Message: Here's a few items to watch out for on the V6 with the 1.7 rockers:
(1) You can "hammer" down the baffles, but be careful not to flatten them out too much - PCV and breather system won't work properly.
(2) Don't remove the baffles - oil will get sucked right into the intake via the PCV valve and Breather. If you do this, you will need to install some sort of baffle under the PCY and breahter (recommend the Moroso valve cover baffles)
(3) Best way: Just lightly tap the baffles down (no more than 1/4") and double-gasket the V6 covers (double up two valve cover gaskets on each side). They won't leak and you'll have the clearance you need...with the factory baffles.

Message: The Crower's go together much better than the Mopar units-- they're stainless not aluminum, and you have the clearance issue with both Mopar and Crower.
Oh yeah, the Crower are CARB approved 50 state (smog excempt) if that matters to you.
Knocking in the baffles isn't really that big a deal. I may find a way to get some V6 covers, set them up, then send them to people who buy 1.7s for a V6, then they send their stockers back to me... Nothing in the works yet, but I am planning on it.
If you have any questions, fire me an email.

1.7s (Rev kit) for applications above 5500 rpm (guide plates and push rods included)
I sell both at www.socaldakota.com
The rev kit is more money, more parts (as listed). The Rev kit is good insurance for your engine if you were to over rev, or come close to 5500 rpm on a frequent basis.

Message: Xphile: It won't kill your engine (right away), but will foul up the spark plugs and will cause oil to run through the intake system. The Nickel-Plated covers are being plated now with a price of $140 for the V6 (with new bolts and gaskets) and $150 for the 5.2/5.9L V8 (also with new bolts and gaskets).

Message: If you're going to use lock-tite, make sure you clean the holes first. (Use BLUE on the studs...Red isn't required for this application.) Do NOT use lock-tite on the adjusters or locks for the adjusters...you may have to readjust one more time after initial "break in".

I have the plugs out and plan to use yor advise from a post you made on fast4x4 web site, hopefully to avoid a second teardown.
I find it hard that these things will hit the baffles they are not near as bulky as the stockers.

Installation done :
Now have 70+ miles and defiantly feels like truck has more TQ starting around 1800-2000 rpm pulls stronger than before, I think I'm going to like em...........;)
Thanks Bernd for the remove the spark plugs and 1/4" the baffle and double gaskets advise worked great, I just left the factory ones in place on the heads and put a new set of FELPROS right over them.
Couple of things that helped me that are not mentioned that I haven't seen anywhere are:
1. Remove the fan shroud its just 3 nuts and it makes it a lot easier to turn the engine over with a socket and see the timing marks.
2. Remove the distributor cap so you can see the TDC mark for the #1 Cyl - I also removed the sensor disc and marked it every 60* so I knew that I was at TDC for each Cyl, Also marked the Damper at 120* this made things easier for the final adjustments.
I couldn't belive the factory ones no adjustment on them at all :(

Message: No, no...roller rockers are really pretty easy. Much easier than installing a shift kit. As with any mod, one must exercise care and follow instructions while installing them, but, basically, one just unbolts the stock rockers, puts the new ones on, adjusts correctly, buttons it back up and drives away! They also provide some of the most noticeable power improvements of any mod. Haven't done them on my Dak yet, but I did on a Mustang a few years back.

Update
Just pulled away from the pumps this evening 18.6 mpg mixed mostly city and foot into it every chance I get. Can't wait to do some long Hwy miles.
Gotta luv these things !!!!!
I had a off idle stumble that I just couldn't shake so I dropped the autolites about 150 miles ago and that cured it. Only thing I can figure it was the colder heat range?
I'm glad I did these over headers.
