Subject: Air Filter IP: Logged
Message: Tried removing the box that the filter is in to replace with a homebrew but the plastic nut on the one inside the box just keeps turning. Can not find out how to get to the bolt underneath to hold. What am I doing wrong or do I just need to cut it off?

Message: The plastic nut will continue to turn no matter how many times you try to unscrew it; It's actually a part of the retainer assembly rather than a removable nut. Twist it until it is at it's farthest point, then lift up the entire airbox assembly and it will come out with the box. This baffled me at first when I did my intake....

Message: Well, in the interest of resale....... in case you want to give the truck it's stock look back so someone doesn't think you ragged it out. I kept the stock airbox and pieces for my previous car, a 97 Malibu 6cyl. and the only thing I didn't change back was the exhaust.

Message: Jay there is no reason to reset the computer if you are just relocating the iat. I have one that is in the cold air intake tube and the stock one so that I can switch back and forth depending on the outside temp and if I am planning a highway trip.

Message: you don't really have to reset the PCM for that. you can if you want. the easiest way i've found to reset the PCM is:
standing over the passenger fender, looking down at the PCM, disconnect the connector that's closest to the firewall from the PCM for about 1 minute. the plug it back in and it's all good. you won't have to worry about re-setting all presets and clock on the factory radio that way.
