my 94,with a 3.9 will not heat up ,it will if i put cardboard and block off the rad. what would be the reason for this. a new 195 degree thermostat has been installed and the water pump works good, i am thinking the fan clutch .any comments i regards to what this problem might be. when i have the cardboard installed the heater works great, like it should, with cardboard removed, almost not heat.

Thermo stat could be stuck open. Then backflush your heater core.

Is the temp gauge reading low or you just do not have any heat coming from the heater?

Both, but if i put cardbord in front of the rad and drive, it heats up like its supposed to with both gauge function and heat from the heater. thats why i am thinking its the fan clutch pulling air through the rad and not giving it any time to heat up.

its not going thru your block or heads, drain the
whole system and back flush, ever use head gasket
seal?? it plugged up holes somewhere, make sure you
open the plugs in your block to drain coolant from
there too
