My 1998 3.9 (1.7 HS rockers, V8 TB, K&N fipk) wont idle when it has been sitting overnight and its cold in the mornings. Once its running and I have drive a block or two it idles and runs just fine. I'm thinking maybe theres a problem with the IAC solenoid ?? What do you guys think ??

Take your battery out and have it load tested. That's the first sign of a weak battery.

Mystery solved then. I didn't even think of that. The battery that's in there is a temporary old one out of my motorhome. I'll change that with the next paycheck. Thanks daddio.

If your truck has been feeling a little sluggish, you'll notice a difference with a fresh battery. I know mine did.

Hmmm. New battery and it still does it. Does seem to run a bit less slugish though

Make sure all of your connections are clean and maybe it's time to clean the IAC and TB.

When was the last tuneup, how many miles ago? As ignition parts wear, their weakness is first evident at cold start/operation and under load.

Engine is a new rebuild with 2300 miles on it now, everything from the coil to the plugs are new, (distributor, wires, sensors...everything) all the sensors on the TB are new and I cleaned the TB before installation. ugh. I shouldnt have a single problem. I'm going to pull the TB off and double check everything though.

Double Check all of your grounds. Especially since you've got a new installation.
