Message: I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota RC short bed 2wd with a

Typically, when there is a miss, you loose some
RPMs and feel a buck. Well, while going down the
road (most noticeable around 55 and 60 mph) I feel
a jolt. When I feel this jolt I gain about 100 to
150 rpms for a second. So basically, when turning
about 1800 rpms, every 30 seconds or so the motor
will run up to 2000 rpms for a second, and then go
back down to its normal rpm. This is driving me
nuts! To make it stop doing this, I can turn the
ignition off, while going down the road, and hold
the gas pedal to the floor for about 8 seconds.
Then I flick the ignition back on and it runs fine
for about 40 min or so.
What do you guys think is going on?

Message: Well, nevermind. I pulled the distrib apart and
found a burnt rotor, lots of corrosion, and the
connectors for the wires were in real bad shape too.
I replaced those parts and the thing runs like new.
