 Subject: 2000 Dakota Quad Cab : HELP!!

So I bought this truck back in January and it had
always been hard shifting from 1st to second,
second to third, around 30000 rpm it would get
'stuck'. I found that if i just let off the gas
and let the rpm's drop it would shift ok. now it
wont shift out of second at all, I have read some
places that its a sensor, others that it would
need a rebuild, anyone else had this problem and
how did you fix it? Oh by the way its the V6 auto.
I am not a mechanic or the least bit mechanically
inclined so I would like to have at least some
knowledge on this problem before i take it to the
shop because obviously they would just try to sell
me a new tranny.
