Message: All: I just have a general oil question. Put Mobil 1 Extended and a Mobil 1 filter on my vehicle in Dec. I've only put 300 miles on it since. My question is can I leave the oil in the crankcase past the one year mark if I put very little miles on it? I'm questioning whether it makes sense to change in Dec since it isnt my primary vehicle and I dont plan on using it much. Thx in advance.>>AJ

Message: Your owner's manual specifies a time interval as well as a mileage interval. I change the oil twice a year in my low-mileage cars regardless of miles driven. The reason is, combustion leaves acid and water in your oil which is not all extracted via the PCV system. So the longer it sits there, the more it attacks your bearings and other internals.

Message: I change my oil every two years. I use the cheap brands from the corner gas stations. I put 17,000 miles a year on my truck.
