Message: 1994 dakota v-6 5spd 2wdr 240,000 miles, new free flow cat borla exaust, this lil mule rattles off 31 mpg all day long on the hwy at 75mph-I,ve heard allot about these v6,s not having the best economy, but a new freeflow cat really helped, 0W20 oil really helped, tire pressure, brake job make sure to put a little neversieze on the sliders, even a little brake drag will kill your mpg- One of the worst things is this new gas with 10% ethanol , my truck looses 3mpg with this crap, and they say no extra charge for ethanol, you know what they should be charging 10% less for this crap

Message: Pretty good mileage! Finally gave up on my '99 3.9L - was consistently getting around 18 with stock tire pressures. Swapping in a Cummins 4bt - a little for fuel mileage, a lot for the uniqueness of a diesel Dakota. Should get 30 out of that - at least that's what I'm planning. I bought a little Accord to drive while doing the swap and it's getting almost 37mpg with higher tire pressure - might never commute in my Dakota again...
