If you were really a "PRO" you wouldn't need to ask!

Message: 3.7 V6 I assume...there are 3 chains, requires special tools to hold the camshafts and requires a lot of work, I would say a pro with all the tools should take 8-10 hours. Plus the chain set is somewhere around $350. Those usually don't go bad and have tensioners...what seems to be the problem?

Message: Dealers and most "professional" repair shops will charge "book time". That is what the factories repair manual tells them to charge for a specific repair. On the good side, if the book says three hours and it takes them 5 they should only charge you 3 hours. On the bad side, if the book says 5 hours and they do it in 2 they charge 5 hours.
As 02 posted, "Those usually don't go bad and have tensioners...what seems to be the problem?" One reason would be lack of proper maintenance.
