Message: i got a 94 dakota sport with the 3.9, no mods
approx 155k, back in early dec. i changed the
thermostat because the heat was weak/lukewarm. all
went fine until i went to start it afterwards.
Started up for about 4seconds then died, just
cranks but wont fire, the weather finally broke so
ive been out tinkering with it and cant figure it
out. its getting fuel as far as i can tell, can
hear the pump click on, smells like gas at the
throttle body, i redid the imfamous splice i keep
hearing about ( it didnt seem that bad but since i
peeled off all the tape and crap i redid it
anyways)I love my dodge but im sick of looking at
it rot away in my driveway, id appreciate any
ideas/suggestions anyone can throw my way, thanks

Message: I just talked to my brother who had same problem as yours. His was just warming up in the driveway and just quit.First you need to check for codes. You can do this without a scanner.Turn the key on(not start)and off then on again 3 times. You will see the codes in your mileage window.Press the trip reset button to see more if more than one code is popped. Will just be Pnone if no code dropped. That will get you pointed in right direction. His code was for crank sensor bad.He replaced that and checked the three ground straps off the engine. These grounds if bad will cause all kinds of problems. After doing that he still couldn't get spark. After much grief and replacing the coil, cam sensor, plugs, cap, rotor& wires still no joy.In the end he replaced the PCM computer. It was the cause but took 3 computers(new) to get one that didn't cause a totally different problem. For instance the 1st-it started but wouldn't stay running. He replaced the run/stop switch.Sorry..don't know the location. This didn't help.He took it back got #2 and ran but no instrument cluster power. He got #3 and it finally runs again. My opinion is the dodge computer is junk and so are the new ones.If you can't depend on the new one to be good new then WTF.Anyway good luck and hope this helps.

Message: checked for spark by grounding a plug = nothing,
no spark or arcs, was thinking the ignition coil
faulty, as far as codes i get no codes, on mine
its key on off on off on and then the CEL will
flash x amount of times giving out the code. It
used to work, now the cel light doesnt come on at
all, the rest of the dash lights work, abs, oil
pressure, fuel, ect but no cel. Makes me lean away
from bad coil to maybe the PCM is roached, this
weekend ill scrounge around the boneyard see what
i can grab. thanks for the help
