Message: All: My 02 3.9L w/92,000 miles is pinging quite a bit. Starts under the slightest load and acceleration. I changed the PCV valve to no avail. Thought it might be the belly pan but I dont see pools of oil when looking down the throttle. The truck does burn about a quart every 3000 miles but it has done that since it was brand new. What do you all recommend I check? Thx>>AJ

Message: Try a saprk plug that is one range coller than stock. NGK FR5 is a decent choice. I know there is an Autolite but don't recall the number.

Message: Thx Daddio. I'll give that a try. I assume these plugs do not create any drivability problems?

Message: My truck pinged until I started putting Mobile Gas in the tank. Took a couple fill ups to go away.

Message: You can also help pinging by bringing down the engine operating temp as much as possible without hurting fuel economy.
