Subject: plenum pan gasket / trans cooler

Message:
Been reading posts about "belly pan" gasket, and think this is my problem. My 01 Dakota 3.9 4X4 uses about a quart every 500 miles. No external leaks or noticable smoking, so wasn't sure where oil was going. Besides pinging and oil consumption, can this gasket if extremly bad, affect oil pressure at idle speed? After warm up pressure drops to near low end of safe range (only at idle). Using recommended oil weight with NAPA Gold filter.

Also saw on another site that common problem is auto tranny having trouble engaging after being parked over night or for long period is due to trans cooler return filter. Anyone had this problem and know where this filter is located?
