Subject: Loss of power getting 12 mpg IP: Logged
Message: I recently bought 2003 Dodge Dakota v6 4x4 with 60,000 miles. I noticed that I didn't always have much power, At times I can hit the pedal to the floor and watch the pedometer slow climb from 45mph up to 55mph and so on, but sometimes I hit the pedal and it takes off. I notice it most at higher speeds. I also checked my gas mileage for the first time and I'm getting only 12 mpg. I've heard of the map sensor going bad or needing to replace the O2 sensors. I checked the codes but everything looks good. If somebody else has experienced this problem and could point me in the right direction I would be most grateful.

Message: Would hooking it up to a OBD II scanner give me much info or since the truck isn't giving me any codes (checked for codes using the built in code checker on the trip monitor)would that not be much help?

Message: Some OBDII scanners can read live data from the sensors. That would be what you need. I would check the fuel pressure and make sure it's up to spec.
