I am looking at a V-6 and want to know the towing capabilities of it. At times we pull a 3,500 - 5,500 lbs. It would be on a random basis. Could a V-6 handle it?

Yeah it can handle it. It might have a little trouble with the 5,500lbs but it should do it.

Low end torque on the V6 bites
Just the wind resistance towing a small Uhaul trailer was enough to kill my gas mileage and I could barely get it over 70.
Mine is a 2000 model with cold air intake and Dyna exhaust.
If you keep the RPM up over 3k its better but the mileage went from a normal 19mpg to about 12mpg
