 Subject: High idle

When my 98 3.9 is cold the engine idles fine but as it warms up it starts to idle above 1500 rpm. When I put the truck in drive the rpms fall to 1000. I have replaced idle control valve. And the vacuum system appears to be ok. I do need to replace the valve cover gaskets. What are the culprits for a high idle and what is the progression for the logical deduction to eliminate non offenders? Thanks!

I took the IAT sensor out and cleaned it thoroughly. Now truck idles perfectly.
