Subject: Runnin Rich. :( IP: Logged
Message: Hmmm my truck smells like gas when it's running...
I have a new IAC and Map Sensor.
My idle is at like 1,600 RPM's on parking.
And I changed the O2 sensors.
New xf2e fuel injectors(which I believe gave me a minus
2MPG, I was getting 12MPG and now I'm getting 10 MPG,
but I should be getting 16MPG)
I have 31x10.50 r15lt size tires. Originals are P215/75 r15.
I do have an SCT Tuner, and a CPS mod with IAT mod
running with it...Maybe that's the problem? But I don't hear
any pings.
I don't know what else to check...:/

Message: Sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere. That would cause a high idle. Part of you poorer mileage woul be the larger tires and that IAT mod. My truck did not like that mod. Mileage dropped and there was no noticeable increase in performance.
What setting do you have on the SCT?

Vacuum leak? How do I find this vacuum leak?

Message: Those 31" tires and winter blend gas could be where your loss in mileage is.
Are you running 91 octane with that SCT tune? Try the SCT mileage setting.

Message: Yes, the winter and the rich running with the mud tires are all
giving me a huge loss in gas mileage, it's at 10.5mpg and gas
prices are going up.
I'm running it with 91 octane. And mileage setting? I dont
have a choice for that. I have 96XXX miles on the truck
though.
And I only have 3 can tunes that I got from Sean.
They are 91, 87, and 81 octane settings to choose from, I
think those are the other two numbers I believe. I always run
91 octane on my dak, so I plan to leave it on 91 octane tune
setting.

Message: Ok so my MAP sensor and IAT relocate are fine. My relocate
gives me extra HP, and doesn't change my MPG, however I
need to check if that IAT is working right.
I also found my tie rods are having play. Those mud tires
must have weakened them. I need to replace my bushings
and my rack n pinion. :(
So the question is, is that a possibilty of whyni have low
MPG?
I'll keep you guys posted. If that could have been the cause, I
just need some time to fix it.
