Subject: gears?? IP: Logged
Message: for the last couple weeks my truck seems like something is holding it back. it's almost as if im towing a trailer. the brakes are not stuck on, the e brake is not stuck, i can turn each wheel by hand. truck runs good, just had tune up. sometimes i have to keep my foot on the gas just to go down hills. it's a five speed and when stopped on a hill and going to pull out it barely drifts back and i sometimes hear a dragging type sound coming from the rear and i can feel it through the truck body. needless to say my gas mpg is really starting to suck! the mechanic that works on our vehicles said by my description it sounds like something called "clutch packs" in my rear end causing a drag. has anyone had this happen and what kind of bill am i looking at to fix this. would appreciate anyone's response

Message: i've been reading some old posts on this differential. people say changing the gear oil may help. i've done this once before around 60,000 miles then my pinion seal went around 70,000 so i put new oil in again with the additive for limited slip. anyone remember what weight oil goes in there. i have 355's and the N3500 tranny 5 spd
