1990 3.9L auto trans. what is the correct coil voltage to the coil when running and when just starting? is it a straight 12 volts or is there a resistor in there some place. like dodge used to do on the firewall?

Rebuilt Dodge, it should be 12 volts, or what ever the battery voltage is, usually its slightly lower than battery voltage though

well i fixed it over a week ago. the wires going ot the pickup in the dist had been eaten off by a rat. and there was another wire that had been ran from under the dahs and spliced into the harness. i swapped out the dist pick wire and the engine bay wiring. and hooked up the one wire from under the dash and the truck started and ran fine. i now need to swap the under dash harness to get away from that single rigged up wire. but it runs as is right now.

dakota area and find the service manuals electronically. they have
the testing procedures and specs. super useful!
