Message: I am not sure what I have heard on this subject. What I do know is a k&n is just a relabeled filter(which I don't know), and the pure one's are good. They are good because of the amount of plets and the suface area for particles to pas through. Now how much of a difference this means not much I guess. It's a bit more restrictive so oil pressure may go up. I switched to this filter at 928 miles at that time I switched to a syn blend and my oil change went up to about the 2nd have of my gauage(I own a RAM, may be different) I think it's about 70psi or so. When I just start the car it's a little over 40 then goes up once the pump does a good job with it's mojo. Now on 3500 miles w full syn it's the same as the syn. blend. No problems yet and I so far like the combination I have.

Message: Hey, again all I know is that a pure one filters the oil well. It is a tad more restrictive(Not a Pro or Con).
An oil filter which "flows better" is less restrictive and may or may not filter better then the more restrictive one. As far as I remember the K&N isn't it's own filter merely a repackaged one from someone else who friggen knows it might be a pure one.
If you want to know do a search on these boards the links to the studies are here. You have to find it.
