Subject: No Power and Constant Clicking IP: Logged
Message: Ok, so I took the truck out this afternoon to gas up, started and ran fine, no issues with anything in a while. I get gas, open the door and the door is dinging (normal), I go to start the truck, all the gauges move, everything lights up, music starts then everything dies...no noise or anything, just dead. As long as the key's in the ignition, there's a constant clicking sound coming from the passengers side. I had someone jump it, and it started with alot of revving, but the second I took my foot off the gas it died instantly. After a few more tries at a jump, it started again...I drove it for 30 mins to school (with one foot on gas and one to brake), on the way to school the cd player cut in and out slightly...when I got to school, I put it in park, took my foot off the gas and instant death. This time it was for good...it won't jump at all now. The only thing that slightly lights up is the little red P light, and it just barely flickers. I have no clue what's wrong with it. The battery is about 3 yrs old and was reading between 14-18 while I was driving (if that helps). All gauges read normal when it was driving.
Please let me know what u think may be wrong. It's sitting dead at my school and if it's something that I can change myself (battery), I really don't wanna spend $60 to have it towed to a shop.
Thanks so much for ur help!

Message: Dakotagurrl, it sounds like your battery is toast. Pull it out and have it load tested. Batteries can die a very sudden death. No idle, and not able to jump start are good signs of a dead battery.

Message: Right, and the dash gauge shows the regulated output voltage. So if the battery is weak and the alternator is fine, it will look normal on the gauge.

Message: Ok so the truck now has a new battery and it still wouldn't start. We tried jumping it a few times and when we were re-adjusting the cables, wiggling the red one made the lights come on and the door dinged, so we're thinking there's a short...somewhere LoL! But it finally accepted the jump and drove the 30 mins home (without 2 pedal driving). Once I shut it off though, it wouldn't start again even with someone wiggling and moving the cable around. At least it's home and not at school where it can be towed.
Thanks so much for all ur help guys...! <3
If u have any other suggestions, feel free to let me know...we're far from being mechanics!! LoL!

Message: Did you clean the battery clamps? Also check all connections to ground. The cables may need to be replaced also but make sure all connections are clean and tight.
